The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on voters in Ondo State to remain confident in the electoral process. This appeal was made by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ms. Oluwatoyin Babalola, during a visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Akure on Monday.

Ms. Babalola and other INEC officials reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting a free and fair election. She pointed to the high turnout during the recent voter registration exercise as evidence of the electorate’s eagerness to participate in the upcoming governorship election.

“Every vote will count, and we are dedicated to ensuring that each vote is accurately recorded. We urge the people of Ondo State to have faith in the election process and trust us to deliver a credible election,” she assured.

Ms. Babalola promised that polling units would open on time and that election materials would be delivered promptly to all 3,993 polling units across the 203 registration areas in the state. She also mentioned that INEC works closely with security agencies to minimize violence and ensure a smooth election process.

She highlighted that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IREV) would enhance transparency and efficiency during the election.

“With IREV and BVAS in place, we are confident that the people’s votes will be counted accurately. We ask the people of Ondo State to trust in our commitment to delivering a credible and high-quality election,” she concluded.
