Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has emphasized that his successor should be a grassroots politician who prioritizes the welfare of the people and is ready to make sacrifices for the state’s progress.
He made this statement during a solidarity visit by the chairmen of the 226 wards, alongside local and state executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the government house in Yola.
Fintiri praised the PDP’s leadership under Barrister Tahir Shehu and commended the ward executives for their efforts in maintaining the party’s strength at the grassroots level.
The governor expressed disappointment over the recent Edo gubernatorial election, calling it a “broad daylight robbery” and a blow to democracy.
He vowed that the PDP would challenge the election results in court to reclaim its mandate.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, Fintiri urged party members to remain united in their mission to save the country.
In his remarks, PDP state chairman Tahir Shehu acknowledged Fintiri’s national achievements, including recognition from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government. He also expressed optimism that Fintiri’s successor would continue to build on the governor’s legacy.
