- Fagbemi emphasized the integration of technology in judicial processes as essential for improving Nigeria’s criminal justice system and curbing crime
Nigeria is set to tackle inter-state crime with the full enforcement of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), according to Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
At the opening of a three-day session to review the National Minimum Standard Document for the ACJA, Fagbemi emphasized that the act will limit the ability of criminals to evade justice by moving between states.
Fagbemi highlighted the importance of adopting technology in daily judicial processes to curb criminal activity across the nation.
He stressed that integrating efficient technological systems into Nigeria’s justice administration is essential for progress.
The National Working Group, created to oversee the implementation of the ACJA, is key to achieving these reforms.
This group was formed based on the recommendations from a National Stakeholders Forum in October 2023, where participants agreed on the need for a unified approach to criminal justice reforms.
Fagbemi affirmed that the group’s role is to ensure that the National Minimum Standards for the ACJA are widely accepted and enhanced by input from stakeholders.
