Wike appoints SSA on administration

  • President Bola Tinubu extended Dr. Atang’s tenure as Head of Service for six months upon reaching retirement age on March 27, 2024.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has appointed Dr. Udo Samuel Atang as Senior Special Assistant on Administration.

Dr. Atang brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as a seasoned administrator in public service, governance, and administration, according to a statement by Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press to the office of the minister.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Atang was the Head of Service of the FCT Administration, a position he held until his recent appointment.

Born on March 27, 1964, Dr. Atang hails from Eket Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Calabar, obtained in 1987.

He began his career in the defunct Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory in 1989 and has since held various senior administrative positions spanning 35 years, culminating in his appointment as the pioneer Head of Service of the FCTA in March 2024.

President Bola Tinubu extended Dr. Atang’s tenure as Head of Service for six months upon reaching retirement age on March 27, 2024.

“Dr. Atang’s expertise has been instrumental in driving various reforms and initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of government operations,” the statement added.“

In his new role as Senior Special Assistant on Administration, Dr. Atang, a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, will work closely with the FCT Minister to oversee key administrative functions, ensure seamless coordination, and provide strategic advisory support. “His appointment is effective immediately.”
