- The university is collaborating with the Nigerian military and other security agencies to enhance safety
The University of Abuja has heightened security measures following rumours of abduction attempts on campus.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Aisha Sani Maikudi dismissed the reports as “baseless” in a statement on Friday, urging calm among staff and students.
The university is collaborating with the Nigerian military and other security agencies to enhance safety, Maikudi confirmed, describing the actions as part of routine procedures.
“We take all security matters very seriously,” she said, adding that the university community should continue its activities as usual but remain vigilant. “Your safety is our priority, and we must stay alert but not alarmed.”
She noted that additional security personnel and vehicles might be seen on campus over the coming days, stressing that these are standard measures to ensure the safety of everyone within the university.
“We deeply appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a secure and safe learning environment for all,” Maikudi added.
