The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) has called for a comprehensive investigation into allegations of sexual harassment made by former female soldier, Private Ruth Ogunleye, against senior military officers.

In a statement on Monday, the group’s convener, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, urged Nigerians to remain patient and refrain from jumping to conclusions until the case is fully investigated.

“The #Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) urgently calls on all Nigerians to exercise restraint in passing judgment on sensitive situations,” Abayomi-Fatile said.

The call follows accusations made by Ogunleye, who alleged that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and Colonel I.B. Abdulkareem engaged in inappropriate conduct. Ogunleye, who was dismissed from the military after raising the issue, has demanded that the army publish the findings of its investigation.

“We strongly urge the public to avoid hasty condemnation and allow for thorough investigations to be conducted. Let’s join hands in promoting fairness and justice for all,” the PSNAFSA statement added.
