President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The ceremony took place at the Aso Rock villa’s council chambers on Monday, following the Senate’s confirmation of her nomination last week.
Justice Kekere-Ekun, Nigeria’s 23rd CJN and second female to hold the position, had been serving as acting Chief Justice since August, after Olukayode Ariwoola’s retirement.
Kekere-Ekun was born on May 7, 1958, in London, United Kingdom.
Her journey in the legal profession commenced at the University of Lagos where she obtained her first degree in law in 1980.
She was called to the Nigerian Bar on July 10, 1981.
She was awarded a Master of Law in November 1983 at the London School of Economics.
