The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Sector 3, successfully intercepted a group of Boko Haram terrorists who were planning an attack along the Magumeri-Maiduguri axis in Borno State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the MNJTF set up a tactical ambush, neutralizing the threat before the terrorists could execute their plan against innocent civilians. According to Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, MNJTF’s Chief Military Information Officer, the troops strategically positioned themselves along the terrorists’ route and engaged them as they approached on motorcycles. Upon encountering heavy gunfire, the terrorists attempted to flee, abandoning their weapons and motorcycles in the process.
During the operation, MNJTF troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, 51 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two magazines, 61 rounds of 7.62 NATO ammunition, and several contraband items, including marijuana, tramadol, and cigarettes.
The successful mission prevented a planned attack and reinforced the MNJTF’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the Lake Chad region. Patrols in the area have since been intensified to prevent further terrorist activities, underscoring the MNJTF’s readiness to counter any threats.
