The Lagos state police command said its operatives have taken two persons into custody in connection with the alleged killing of an individual suspected of cable theft.

NAN reports that Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Monday.

The police spokesperson told NAN that the Alausa police division received a tip-off on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. about a murder case.

He further stated that the deceased, simply identified as Monday, was lynched some group of boys.

“The informant said that at about 3:00 a.m. of same date, he received a call from one of his brothers that one Monday has been lynched to death by some group of boys,” NAN quoted Hundeyin as saying.

“The suspects and others still at large, conspired and murdered Monday after he was indicted for cable theft.

“After Monday was beaten to stupor, the suspects used copper wire to tie his neck and strangled him to death”

The police spokesperson said a thorough probe into the incident is underway, adding that the victim’s body has been moved to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, for autopsy.
