- Ousmane Dembele was excluded from PSG’s Champions League squad against Arsenal due to a reported disciplinary decision by coach Luis Enrique
- Despite Dembele’s strong performance this season, PSG will rely on Bradley Barcola, the current top scorer in Ligue 1, in his absence
French forward Ousmane Dembele has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for their Champions League match against Arsenal on Tuesday, according to a source close to the club, who spoke with AFP.
The source said Dembele’s exclusion is reportedly not due to injury but is “a decision of the coach,” Luis Enrique. French sports daily L’Equipe suggests the decision may be disciplinary following a heated exchange between the player and Luis Enrique after PSG’s 3-1 win over Rennes in Ligue 1 on Friday.
Without Dembele, who has been in top form with four goals and four assists in six league games this season, PSG will rely more heavily on Bradley Barcola. Barcola, currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 with six goals, including two in the victory against Rennes, will be expected to take on a bigger role.
Meanwhile, PSG’s Marco Asensio is racing to recover from an injury sustained during the club’s Champions League opener against Girona two weeks ago.
