- Fernandes was sent off for a high tackle on James Maddison in the 42nd minute of the match against Spurs
- Also slammed with ban
- Irked with the decision, Manchester United appealed the ban
Manchester United have won their appeal against the red card issued to their mid fielder Bruno Fernandes during their 0-3 loss against Tottenham on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
Notably, Fernandes was sent off for a high tackle on James Maddison in the 42nd minute of the match as Spurs were leading by 1-0.
The United Captain appeared to slip and lunge in front of Maddison with his studs up.
However, he failed to get hold of the ball and was shown a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh with the decision also being supported by VAR John Brooks.
Unhappy with the decision, United appealed against it and much to their delight, the Football Association (FA) overturned it allowing Fernandes to take the field for the Red Devils in their next three fixtures.
“Bruno Fernandes will be available for Manchester United’s next three games following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal. The midfielder was sent off for serious foul play during the Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 29 September,” informed the FA through their X account.
