The Lagos state government has announced a temporary nighttime traffic diversion to facilitate the installation of a truck barrier at the Ojuelegba Flyover Bridge, near the Fire Station.
This diversion will occur from 10:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, to 5:00 AM on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Motorists traveling from Eko Bridge, Costain, and Iponri toward Ojuelegba should take the Service Lane from the National Stadium gate and connect with Barracks to reach their destinations.
According to commissioner of transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, motorists should exercise patience during this brief closure, as it aims to enhance traffic safety and prevent accidents.
“By planning alternative routes, drivers can minimize inconvenience during the installation period.
“The government’s traffic management strategy prioritizes safety and efficiency, ensuring a smoother commute for all,” he said.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel to accommodate the temporary diversion.
The commissioner noted that the measure aims to safeguard lives and prevent further accidents, aligning with the government’s commitment to public safety.
The temporary diversion will enable the successful installation of the truck barrier, enhancing overall road safety.
