Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has officially renamed the newly remodelled Government House after retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, a former Minister of Defense. The renaming received approval from the Taraba State House of Assembly.

During the commissioning ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Jalingo, Mr. Ibrahim Yaboro, expressed that this gesture was in appreciation of Danjuma’s significant role in advocating for the creation of Taraba State.

Yaboro acknowledged that the people of Taraba will forever remain grateful to Danjuma, who holds the title of Abonta of Wukari and served as the Chief of Army Staff and Minister of Defence.

Yaboro highlighted that Danjuma “single-handedly pursued and secured approval from the top military leadership for the creation of Taraba State,” making him the most deserving individual to receive this honour for his patriotism and love for his people.

In addition, Yaboro praised Danjuma as a statesman, philanthropist, and a leader whose contributions to human capital development go beyond the boundaries of Taraba State. “We cannot fully express what you mean to Taraba, Nigeria, and Africa as a whole,” he said.

He thanked him for his positive impact on people’s lives through his foundation, irrespective of their tribe, religion, or ethnicity.

General Danjuma, visibly moved by the honour, unveiled the remodelled government house and expressed his gratitude to the state government. He also urged the people of Taraba to support Governor Agbu Kefas in achieving the desired transformation for the state.

Dignitaries in attendance included Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagun, former Minister of Information and National Orientation Jerry Gana, and former acting Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar UTC.
