The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has presented N132 million in cheques to the families of police officers who lost their lives in service.
The presentation took place at the Plateau State Police Command Headquarters in Jos.
The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, CP Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, handed over the cheques on behalf of the IGP to the bereaved families.
The IGP highlighted the importance the Nigeria Police Force places on the welfare of its personnel and their families. He acknowledged that while the financial support cannot replace the lost lives, it serves as a gesture of gratitude for the sacrifices these officers made for their country.
He also emphasized that the initiative is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing commitment, under his leadership, to support its officers and honour the memory of those who served bravely.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Abraham Joseph Chimkul expressed his appreciation to the IGP and CP for their timely support.
