Plateau State Police Commissioner Issues Stern Warning Against Misconduct Ahead of Local Government Elections

The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Emmanuel Olugbemiga, has issued a stern warning to police officers, urging them to refrain from collecting bribes, engaging in brutality, or committing any acts that could tarnish the reputation of the Nigerian Police.

This warning came during a briefing at the command headquarters, ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Wednesday.

CP Olugbemiga emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and emotional intelligence throughout the election process.

He reminded officers that any misconduct would result in severe disciplinary actions in accordance with the Police Act and Regulations.

He stated, “Any officer found wanting in any way will face strict disciplinary measures. The Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to ensuring a peaceful and smooth democratic process. All operational assets are ready to ensure a peaceful election across the 17 LGAs.”

The briefing aimed to prepare officers for the election, ensuring that law enforcement maintains peace and order. In the lead-up to the poll, 11 political parties have signed a peace agreement, committing to adhere to the regulations governing the election.
