Police arrest suspect for ‘killing sex worker’ in Lagos

...says efforts were on to locate the family member of the deceased.

The Lagos police command has taken a commercial sex worker, Joy Kelvin, into custody for allegedly killing a client, 48-year-old Okafor.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Spokesperson, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.

According to Hundeyin, the incident occurred at 5:32 a.m. on Monday at Jakande Housing Estate in Lekki, Lagos.

“A friend of the deceased reported the murder case at the Ilasan Division, Hundeyin stated.

“A complainant reported that he got a call from one of his friends that Okafor was stabbed in his house by one Joy Kelvin, a prostitute he brought to his house overnight.”

“He stated further that the victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Marina where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty,” Hundeyin said.

“The police promptly arrested the suspect after receiving the report.

“On the receipt of the report, the scene was promptly visited by detectives of the division and the suspect was apprehended.”

“The corpse has been evacuated and deposited at General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba for preservation and autopsy,” Hundeyin added.

Efforts are underway to locate the deceased’s family members, Hundeyin noted.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, he stated.
