- Wike has been widely accused of being behind the violence that characterised the aftermath of the local government elections in the state
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, says there is no consequences for action in Nigeria hence people act with impunity.
Speaking on on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Wike described Nigeria as a lawless country.
He said this in reaction to the violence and upheaval in Rivers State.
Wike has been widely accused of being behind the violence that characterised the aftermath of the local government elections in the state.
On Monday, some local government secretariats were set ablaze by arsonists after the newly elected LGA bosses were sworn in by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The former governor had made several frantic efforts to stop the polls from holding but his moves were thwarted by the governor and the people who went ahead to elect new leaders at LGA and ward levels.
Reacting to the violence that followed the election, Wike said Nigeria is a country where anything goes and anybody can do anything and go scot free.
“This country is a country where anybody can do anything and go free, ” Wike said.
“You fall back to social media, to carry blackmail, to carry propaganda without telling people this is what is happening.”
