Again, four farmers killed in attack on Plateau villages

Some yet-to-be identified gunmen have killed four farmers in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The assailants also injured five others during a separate attack at a mining site around Kuba and Maikatako villages in Butura District in the council.

Sabastine Majit, President, Butura Youth Movement (BYM) confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos on Saturday.

According to him, the incident occurred on Thursday around 9:pm.

The president identified the victims as Bwefuk Musa, Klingshak Dickson, Promise Joshua and Nyam Abaka.

He stated that the attackers fled the scene of the incident before the arrival of the security personnel.

Majit disclosed that the latest attack came less than a week after five relatives were murdered in Wumat village.

He said, “This attack occurred just four days after a tragic incident in the village of Wumat, where five members of a family, including a pregnant mother, lost their lives. This was the latest in a series of unprovoked attacks on our community, which has seen over 20 of our members killed in the last one month alone.

“This incident is one of many, including previous attacks in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bassa, Jos North and South as well as Wase and Mangu local government areas, where innocent residents were brutally murdered in their sleep. If authorities fail to take decisive action to stop these assaults and the defamation of our community, we may be left with no choice but to resort to self-defence as a means of survival.”
