Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has donated $10,000 for the reconstruction of a mosque in Damagaram, Niger Republic, despite ongoing security challenges in his own state.
Katsina, along with other states in Nigeria’s northwest, has faced persistent attacks by armed groups, including bandits who engage in killings, kidnappings, and ransom demands, despite government efforts to curb the violence.
The governor’s special adviser on political matters, Ya’u Umar Gwajo-gwaj, announced the donation on Friday. He explained that the funds would help modernize the mosque and promote moral discipline in the community.
“We are one people separated by artificial borders,” Gwajo-gwaj said, adding that the mosque would contribute to addressing social issues and strengthening ties between the neighbouring regions.
