The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) has reported progress in boosting industrial growth and ensuring that products in the country meet required standards.
Speaking during the World Standards Day celebration in Abuja, the Director General of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, highlighted that their initiatives are showing positive results.
The “Shared Vision for a Better World” event focused on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, which emphasizes industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
Dr. Okeke noted that standards play a vital role in achieving these goals. He stressed their importance in promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices. “So far, our efforts to ensure that products meet standards yield results,” he said.
He further explained that standardization is essential for industrialization and is a core part of SON’s activities, which include regulation, certification, and quality assurance.
In his remarks, the Director of Standards, Engr. Yahaya Bukat, reinforced SON’s dedication to working with stakeholders to enhance quality assurance, ultimately contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth.
