Zamfara Governor Pledges Support for Families of Guards Killed in Bandit Ambush

During a visit to Tsafe Emir’s palace, Governor Lawal expressed his condolences to the bereaved families

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has vowed to support the families of nine Community Protection Guards killed in an ambush by bandits last week.

During a visit to Tsafe Emir’s palace, Governor Lawal expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and promised that the state government would take full responsibility for their welfare.

In a statement released on Sunday, Lawal said, “I am here today to offer my condolences to the emirate and the families of the brave guards who lost their lives. It was a tragic event, but we must honour their courage and sacrifice.”

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating banditry, stating that the incident would not derail efforts to restore peace in Zamfara State.

He added that a high-level government delegation, led by the deputy governor, had already been sent to console the affected families.

Lawal also announced financial and material assistance, including food supplies, to the families of the victims. “We will take full care of the families of the slain guards, and we stand by this commitment,” he said.

The Emir of Tsafe, Alhaji Muhammadu Bawa, thanked the governor for his swift intervention and support.
