- According to the report, Daji was allegedly slain on Sunday by members of a rival faction
Ibrahim Daji, a notorious bandit leader, has been killed in Kwanar Nasir, Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The news was reported by Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on counter-insurgency efforts in the Lake Chad region.
According to the report, Daji was allegedly slain on Sunday by members of a rival faction, who left his body at the scene.
Daji gained infamy for his involvement in a series of criminal activities, particularly orchestrating violent attacks along the Kwatarkwashi-Mada road and other surrounding areas. His stronghold was located in Shangel village, east of Mada town.
He was notorious not only for leading violent assaults but also for reportedly purchasing kidnapped individuals within Gusau, solidifying his control over the region’s criminal networks. Daji was said to have harbored other criminal elements, including Bello Taggoje, in his Shangel village base.
Daji commanded a significant number of followers, and his death is considered a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry in Zamfara State. He was regarded as a pivotal figure within the region’s network of armed criminals, and his death could potentially weaken the grip of bandit factions operating in the area.
Security officials are expected to continue their efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the region.
