At least three persons lost their lives on Sunday in a fatal multiple auto crashes in Lagos State.

The mishaps happened at Second Rainbow, along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of the State.

Three others also sustained various injuries during the incident which happened around 4 pm at Second Rainbow, inward Mile 2.

The incident reportedly involved an oil tanker, two commercial buses, a Honda car with registration number KTU223GH, and two commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada.

Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), confirmed the incident.

He disclosed that three people died in the tragic occurrence, while three others who sustained injuries were taken to hospital for treatment.

Bakare-Oki said the vehicles involved had been moved away from the road to allow for free flow of traffic in the area

Meanwhile, a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer from the Isolo Unit Command, who confirmed the accident under anonymity, said only two persons died in the crash.

According to the officer, “the incident occurred after a tanker driver suddenly lost control due to brake failure before crashing into a car and a commercial bus whose registration numbers could not be ascertained at press time.”

“Apparently, the truck suddenly developed brake failure and in the process crashed into those two vehicles. In the ensuing confusion sympathisers carried some bodies out of the vehicles. At least four or six from the wreckages,” an eyewitness narrated.

The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
