One Markus Dali has lost his life while trying to settle a public brawl in Adamawa State.

Dali was said to have stepped between Barka Yama and Alex Tari during a fisticuff to stop the scuffle only for him to be struck by a blow from Yama

Dali ultimately died from the heavy impact of Yama’s punch, according to the police who have since arrested the suspect.

The deceased and the two fighters hail from Sina Kwande community in the Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

32-year-old Yama has also been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court I sitting in Yola by the Police in the north east on the charge of culpable homicide.

The prosecuting police officer, ASP Francis Audu, told the court that while Barka Yama and Alex Tari were fighting on the 30th August, 2024, Markus Dali decided to intervene but the defendant gave him a blow, after which he fell down and became unconscious.

“He was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor after he was rushed to the hospital,” the police prosecutor said.

After the defendant pleaded guilty, the prosecutor urged the court to remand him in a correctional centre to enable the prosecution transmit the case diary to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammed Njidda, granted the application and ordered that the defendant be remanded
