  • George said Tinubu sent Gbajabila to pacify him against leaving Nigeria because they had wronged him.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Bode George has claimed that President Bola Tinubu sent his Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to persuade him against leaving Nigeria following Tinubu’s presidential victory.

George stated that Gbajabiamila’s mission was to placate him due to past wrongs.

He made these comments on Wednesday regarding his earlier threat to leave Nigeria if Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show, George described Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike as “like a son” despite Wike’s issues with Rivers state governor Siminalayi Fubara and the PDP crisis.

According to George: “Wike is like a son to me…” George criticized the party’s leadership structure, noting, “It is an anomaly to have the presidential candidate and party chairman from the same zone…”

George emphasized his independence, stating, “I don’t live my life based on Wike.” During the campaign, George vowed to leave Nigeria if Tinubu won, prompting Tinubu to send Gbajabiamila.

“Gbajabiamila’s message was clear: “Egbon said please be calm, trying to beg.” They acknowledged past wrongs and offered apologies.

George said he initiated a meeting between Fubara and Wike to resolve their issues. Fubara shared his perspective in Port Harcourt, while Wike delayed their meeting until his return from China.
