How terrorists in Nigeria get weapons – NSA Ribadu

Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has opened up on how armed non-state actors terrorising Nigeria get the weapons they use for their heinous and nefarious activities.

He revealed that the preponderance of the illegal arms and ammunition currently in circulation in Nigeria originally belonged to the Federal Government.

Ribadu made the revelation on Thursday, during the arms destruction exercise conducted by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja.

He explained that non-state actors were able to get hold of these weapons due to corrupt and compromised elements within the security agencies.

The NSA decried security personnel who facilitate the distribution of weapons to terrorists, bandits and other non-state actors.

He assured that the government will do everything possible to ensure the country’s security
