Agriculture Ministry Distributes Insecticides to Combat Tick Infestation in Edo Dog Kennels

Dr. Samuel Owoicho, the ministry's Edo State Coordinator, presented the items

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has donated knapsack sprayers and insecticides to the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) in Edo State to address tick infestations in dog kennels.

During the NVMA’s monthly meeting in Benin on Friday, Dr. Samuel Owoicho, the ministry’s Edo State Coordinator, presented the items, emphasizing the importance of controlling ticks due to their harmful effects on animal health and the livestock sector.

Owoicho stated that the donation aligns with the ministry’s mandate to support tick control efforts and stressed the need for continued collaboration between the ministry and the NVMA. He also highlighted the ministry’s broader efforts, including providing resources like Android phones, rabies vaccines, and capacity-building initiatives for NVMA members in the state.

NVMA Chairman, Dr. Daniel Asemota, expressed gratitude for the government’s support, noting that the equipment would significantly aid efforts to combat ticks in kennels across Edo State.
