Lagos police chief slumps, dies in his office

A Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Lagos State, CSP Bolaji Olugbenga, has passed away.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Olugbenga, who was in charge of Ijanikin Police Station, slumped in his office.

He was said to have died before he could be taken to a hospital.

The spokesman for the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed Olugbenga passing on Friday night.

Hundeyin, however, did not give details of the officer and what led to his death.

It was further learned that the news of his death threw the officers attached to the station into mourning.

A source from the division said the body of the officer had been moved to a mortuary
