The Ebonyi police command has said that a gas explosion at a catering school injured 10 people.
Joshua Ukandu, Ebonyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident to NAN on Saturday.
Ukandu stated that the incident occurred at Orokeonuoha community, Ebonyi LGA.
He noted there were no fatalities, while saying a cooking gas cylinder in the school’s kitchen allegedly caused the explosion.
“The police are aware; it happened Thursday— victims were taken to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital,” Ukandu said.
“At the time, no deaths were recorded; students were present at Good Shepherd Catering School when it occurred.”
Ukandu described the incident as “very unfortunate.”
Ralph Ibiam, Ebonyi state fire service chief, said they didn’t receive the explosion report.
“Nobody informed us; gas explosions are becoming a trend,” Ibiam noted.
