Northern Governors Donate N900m to Support Jigawa State Following Deadly Explosion

Each of the 18 northern governors, excluding Jigawa, contributed N50 million to aid in the rehabilitation of survivors and affected communities

The Northern States Governors’ Forum, led by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, has donated N900 million to support victims of the petrol tanker explosion in Jigawa State that claimed over 170 lives.

Each of the 18 northern governors, excluding Jigawa, contributed N50 million to aid in the rehabilitation of survivors and affected communities.

During a visit to Jigawa, Yahaya expressed the collective sorrow of the northern governors, describing the explosion as one of the most tragic incidents in recent memory. He emphasised the importance of standing in solidarity with Jigawa and helping the state government manage the aftermath of the disaster.

The delegation included the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and deputy governors from Borno, Katsina, Taraba, Kebbi, and Yobe states. Yahaya conveyed their condolences, stressing the significance of supporting the victims and their families through this difficult time.

Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, thanked the governors for their generosity, noting that the contributions would provide crucial relief to the survivors and the families of those who perished.

Governor Yahaya also prayed for the repose of the souls lost in the tragedy and urged the people of Jigawa to remain strong and united during this challenging period.
