- In a statement, the club’s media department confirmed that several players and the bus driver were injured and have been taken to hospital
A bus carrying Kano Pillars FC’s U-19 team was involved in a road accident on Tuesday morning, according to local reports.
The team was en route to Jos, Plateau State, for a match against Plateau United U-19 when the incident occurred.
In a statement, the club’s media department confirmed that several players and the bus driver were injured and have been taken to hospital. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the Kano Pillars FC U-19 team bus was involved in a road accident while travelling to the New Jos Stadium for their Matchday 5 fixture in the U-19 Youth League,” the statement read.
The club added that while injuries were reported, there were no fatalities. “The medical team is closely monitoring the situation,” it said.
This incident follows a similar crash in June, when Doma United’s team bus was involved in an accident on the Makurdi-Lafia Expressway in Benue State.
