Senator Titus Zam, representing Benue North West, has condemned the ongoing killings and attacks on residents of Gwer West Local Government Area in Benue State.

He attributed the violence to suspected Fulani herders who have been targeting communities along the Makurdi-Naka and Naka-Agabgbe roads.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Terungwa Nunde, Senator Zam expressed frustration that despite numerous motions presented to the National Assembly urging federal and state governments to intervene, the killings have persisted. He lamented the growing severity of the attacks in recent weeks.

Zam highlighted his proposed bill promoting ranching and prohibiting open grazing as a key solution to ending the violence. The bill is currently before the National Assembly and awaits a public hearing.

He urged Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia to address the security crisis and collaborate more closely with President Bola Tinubu. Zam assured that the National Assembly is working to mobilize federal resources to tackle the issue.

Calling on security agencies to intensify their efforts, Zam expressed his condolences to the people of Gwer West, particularly those who have lost loved ones, and urged the community to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces to restore peace.
