Ex-Sports Minister, Sunday Dare bags appointment as Tinubu reshuffles cabinet


Forrmer Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Public Communications and Orientation to President Bola Tinubu.

Dare’s appointment followed Tinubu’s reshuffling of his cabinet that saw five ministers lose their position.

The presidency announced his appointment in a statement on Wednesday.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has approved the immediate implementation of eight far-reaching actions to reinvigorate the Administration’s capacity for optimal efficiency pursuant of his commitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians,” the Presidency stated.

Dare served as the Minister of Sports and Youths Development during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reacting, Dare expressed gratitude to Tinubu for giving opportunity to serve.

He posted on X: “I sincerely thank my Leader and the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for once again, reposing his confidence in him.

Earlier, the President had announced the sacking of five ministers, appointment of seven ministers and movement of 10 ministers to different portfolios.

Bianca Ojukwu was appointed as minister of state foreign affairs while Jumoke Oduwole was named the minister of industry, trade and investment.

Others are: Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Federal Ministry of Labour & Employment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Federal Ministry of Livestock Development; Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development; and Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State Education
