- But the Bala Mohammed, chairman of the PDP’s governor forum later announced the postponement of the NEC meeting till November 28.
Olagunsoye Oyinlola, chairman of the PDP’s national reconciliation committee, announced that the party’s national working committee has been reconciled.
The PDP has faced internal turmoil since 2022, causing divisions within its national working committee.
To address this, the party established a national reconciliation committee in August.
Last week, a faction suspended Umar Damagum, acting national chairman and Samuel Anyanwu, national secretary, over alleged anti-party activities.
In response, Damagum’s faction suspended Kamaldeen Ajibade, national legal adviser, and Debo Ologunagba, national spokesperson.
Ologunagba’s faction then appointed Yayari Mohammed as acting national chair. However, the federal high court in Abuja ruled that Damagum remains acting national chair until the PDP convention in December 2025.
Bala Mohammed, PDP Governors Forum chairman, lifted the suspension of NWC members on October 15, urging members to return to status quo.
Following the national reconciliation committee meeting, Oyinlola stated, “WE HAD A FRUITFUL MEETING.” He emphasized reconciliation’s importance for party unity and progress.
Oyinlola described the meeting as fruitful but didn’t disclose specifics. “The outcome of today’s meeting is that… we have resolved our differences within the NWC,” he said. “We thank God we’ve opened up and resolved to move forward united.”
Oyinlola declined to comment on the NEC meeting’s scheduling, citing it wasn’t part of their discussions.
