Peter Mbah, Enugu State Governor, has approved N80,000 as the new minimum wage for civil servants, effective October 2024.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mbah announced, “I have just approved a minimum wage of N80,000 for Enugu workers, effective October 2024.”
He acknowledged the workforce’s dedication and sacrifices, ensuring their welfare remains a priority, consistent with campaign promises.
“We appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of the state’s workforce and will continue to prioritise their welfare in line with our campaign promises. Tomorrow is here,” he wrote.
This development follows closely on the heels of Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom State Governor, announcing a similar minimum wage increase to N80,000.
Previously, President Bola Tinubu signed the minimum wage bill into law in July, raising the workers’ pay package from N30,000 to N70,000.
