FirstBank Denies Reports of System Upgrade, Clarifies Vendor Platform Transition

In a statement released on Friday, the bank explained that the message in question, which was issued to vendors, had been misinterpreted and incorrectly reported

FirstBank has dismissed reports suggesting that it is undergoing a system upgrade, clarifying that a recent notice about transitioning to a new cloud-based platform was intended specifically for its vendors and not for customers.

In a statement released on Friday, the bank explained that the message in question, which was issued to vendors, had been misinterpreted and incorrectly reported.

The notice was aimed at informing vendors about a transition from the bank’s existing I-Supplier Platform to a new Cloud-based Supplier Platform, a move intended to enhance the capabilities and benefits available to its vendors.

“The message, which was incorrectly interpreted and reported, was sent to and intended for our vendors only,” the bank’s statement read. “It focused on transitioning from our current I-Supplier Platform—our automated platform that connects us to suppliers—to a new Cloud-based Supplier Platform, which is a world-class platform for managing suppliers, to enable additional capabilities and benefits for our vendors.”

FirstBank stressed that no system upgrade affecting customer services is underway. “Please be informed that no system upgrade is currently underway, and all our customer applications are fully operational,” the bank stated.

The financial institution also reassured customers that the transition would not affect any of their services, including banking systems, customer transactions, and channels. “We are not experiencing disruption to our services, and our banking systems, customer transactions, channels, etc., will not be affected by the enhanced supplier platform.”

The statement concluded with a reassurance that FirstBank remains committed to providing seamless service delivery to its customers, ensuring that their operations remain unaffected by the vendor platform upgrade.

FirstBank is one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, and this clarification comes after some customers reportedly expressed concerns following the initial misinterpretation of the notice.
