- The governor highlighted his administration’s ongoing developmental efforts across the state, even before the election of local council leaders
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has vowed to leverage the newly elected local government chairmen in all 44 Local Government Areas to improve the lives of rural residents and tackle youth unemployment.
Speaking after casting his vote at Chiranchi Ward during Saturday’s local government elections, the governor highlighted his administration’s ongoing developmental efforts across the state, even before the election of local council leaders.
“We have already initiated many projects without elected chairmen, but now with their presence, there will be direct contact with rural dwellers, and we expect unprecedented development,” Governor Yusuf stated.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, Yusuf assured that the state government, in collaboration with the local councils, will focus on key areas such as health, education, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
He also emphasised that elected officials under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are responsible and credible, warning that any deviation from good governance would lead to punishment under Kano’s laws.
Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the voter turnout, thanking residents for their peaceful participation. He reiterated that those elected would work closely with the state government to deliver on the promises made during the campaigns.
Kano’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, also praised the peaceful conduct of the elections after voting in Gwarzo Local Government Area, crediting security agencies for maintaining order throughout the process.
