- Tinubu wins the election in 2027, it means North has to wait for another eight years before power returns to the region
Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso, a leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has stated that it is preferable for the North to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, paving the way for power to return to the region in 2031.
He emphasised the need for patriotic politicians to ignore the actions of some politicians who were casting aspersions and campaigning against Tinubu, adding that “we in the north must collectively team up and ensure that Tinubu and Shetima were reelected in the 2027 general election.”
Kwankwaso, however, warned patriotic northern politicians not to dance to the tune music of a few disgruntled elements calling for an alternate candidate from the South to be voted for in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking with pressmen on Sunday in Kano, the chieftain of APC stated that if another person besides Tinubu wins the election in 2027, it means North has to wait for another eight years before power returns to the region.
Kwankwaso, therefore, emphasised that those politicians who were based their argument on security threat in the country were not been fair and since to president Tinubu’ s several efforts been put in place to tackle the menace of armed banditry in the north.
According to him,” These set of politicians from the North who were routing and holding clandestine political meeting to dumped presidential president Tinubu,should have a rethink and weighing the political woe that would befell the north,if another president emerged from another political party besides the APC.”
He hinted that those clamouring for the former Kano state governor, Rabiu Musa kwankwaso to serve as a vice to a Southerner are not also being fair to the people of the north.
He stated that “It will be better for Northerners and in Northern interest to support President Tinubu | Shetima joint candidate for 2027 and this would enable power to return to the North come 2031.
“Any Southerner that some Northerners are thinking of supporting come 2027 will definitely want to spend 8 years , meaning power may return to the North come 2035.”
Kwankwaso further added that the efforts of minister of defence, Bello Matawalle in taming the menace of armed banditry in the north in general and in the north west is yielding a very good positive
He said the best assistance” we the people from North can give to president Tinubu’,is to rally around him,with prayers and concerted effort to achieve peace in the country.”
