  • It was learnt the altercation followed a disagreement between the lawmaker and the taxi driver.
  • The Rep member was heard threatening to beat up the cabman and lock him up in his generator house.

A video allegedly capturing Alex Ikwechegh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, physically harassing a Bolt driver has spread rapidly online.

The incident supposedly took place in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

In the video, Ikwechegh, representing Aba North and South federal constituency, appears to be engaged in an intense argument with the driver.

Ikwechegh accused the driver of disrespect for requesting him to approach the vehicle to collect his package.

Ikwechegh is heard menacingly declaring he’ll “make the driver disappear” without facing repercussions.

Furthermore, the lawmaker openly admits to striking the driver twice and threatens additional violence.

“Do you know where you are? Do you know who I am?” Ikwechegh reportedly said, to which the driver responds: “I don’t want to know, just pay me and let me go.”

“So, you think I will give you my money with the way you have spoken to me?”

The driver retorts with: “I did a job for you and you have to pay me, sir”.

“You will not see a penny from me with this great level of disrespect. You’re very stupid, very, very stupid,” the lawmaker cussed.

The lawmaker then contacts someone he refers to as “madam” on the phone.

“Madam, who is this stupid boy that you sent to my house? Who is this foolish boy that you sent to my house? How can this stupid idiot come to my house and tell me I’m supposed to come to his car and pick up what I’m buying from you?” he said.

“Can you imagine this rat? I can make this man disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing would happen. I’m not going to give this silly boy one naira of my money.

“You have been insulting me, and I’ve been quiet. I pray that you insult me.

“I’m not going to call my policemen to beat you up. I will beat you up. I will show you that I’m a big brother to you. I will slap the hell out of you, lie you down, and lock you in my generator house.”

The video ends with the aggressor attempting to grab the driver’s phone.
