- Balogun, stationed at Bromley Police Station, was one of only two officers present at the event aside from the celebrant
Shola Balogun, a Nigerian-British officer with the Metropolitan Police Service, has been dismissed after being found guilty of biting a colleague during a birthday party in Bexleyheath, Kent.
The incident took place on April 22, 2022, at a 40th birthday celebration at Goals Sports Bar, with around 70 guests in attendance. Balogun, stationed at Bromley Police Station, was one of only two officers present at the event aside from the celebrant.
According to hearing documents, what began as light-hearted horseplay between the two officers escalated when Balogun allegedly grabbed the victim’s glasses, dropped them, and later bit the colleague’s face.
Balogun disputed this version of events, claiming the removal of the glasses was accidental. However, following a hearing led by senior officer Christopher McKay from October 21-23, 2024, Balogun was dismissed from the force.
The case has garnered attention due to the unusual nature of the incident, which resulted in disciplinary action against Balogun after two years of service at Bromley Police Station.
