- Adelabu assured that power supply will be restored to the region by the end of this week.
The Federal Government has opened up on the continued lack of electricity in northern Nigeria.
The region has been experiencing power outage for days on end now owing to the destruction and vandalisation of electrical equipment.
Speaking on the unsettling situation, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, said the Northern Nigerian states are still steeped in darkness because of a security threat.
Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, Adelabu disclosed that the delay in fixing the vandalised Shiroro-Kaduna Line was due to security threats.
“This time was more severe, and the repairs have been delayed because of security threats,” he stated.
Adelabu assured that power supply will be restored to the region by the end of this week.
The minister’s update comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered him and the responsible agency to restore power supply to Northern Nigeria after days of the blackout.
Recall that Nigerians on Monday called for the sack of Adelabu over the persistent darkness in Northern Nigeria for several days
