Senate President Cautions Senator for Commending Bianca’s Appearance During Screening

She, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, was one of several nominees being vetted

Senate President Godswill Akpabio had to restore order during the ministerial screening of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu on Wednesday after a senator’s comment on her appearance caused a stir.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, was one of several nominees being vetted, including Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, and others.

When it was her turn, she presented her credentials and outlined her achievements.

However, Senator Osita Ngwu of Enugu West sparked reactions by complimenting her looks. “Mr. President, the beautiful nominee before us today is…,” he began, but Akpabio swiftly cut him off, humorously saying, “Stick to the resume. She didn’t include ‘beautiful’ in her CV,” prompting laughter in the chamber.

During her screening, Odumegwu-Ojukwu emphasized the need for national unity and peace, stating, “If we come together sincerely to serve this nation, focusing on peace, then the sky is the limit for this country.” She also stressed the role of diplomatic and cultural engagement in Nigeria’s growth.
