Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications and Orientation, has highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s pivotal role in securing former President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in 2015.

He stated that Buhari’s presidency would not have been possible without Tinubu’s crucial support.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Dare, who previously served as Minister of Sports under Buhari, also addressed his current role under Tinubu’s administration.

He emphasized that his new position is not a demotion but a call to contribute meaningfully to ongoing national reforms. “This is a duty call during a period of critical reforms.

Having served as a former minister, I see it as an opportunity to add value,” Dare explained, adding that it is not unusual for presidents to enlist experienced leaders to join their team.

Dare acknowledged Tinubu’s trust in him and pointed out that government is a continuous process where each administration builds on the past. “The president’s trust is what’s important.

Governance continues; you inherit some issues, and you keep reforming to achieve a fully functional nation,” he said, calling on Nigerians to support leadership when needed.

Reflecting on Buhari’s journey to the presidency, Dare said, “Without Tinubu’s role in forming the party and creating a platform, President Buhari would not have emerged.”

He credited Tinubu’s influence and strategic support as essential to Buhari’s success, underscoring the importance of Tinubu’s involvement in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
