Jide Josiah Jisos Sentenced to Six Months for UTME Impersonation

The ruling was delivered by Justice Folashade Oyekan of a magistrate court in Abuja after Jisos was found guilty of a single charge

Jide Josiah Jisos has been sentenced to six months in prison for impersonation during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The ruling was delivered by Justice Folashade Oyekan of a magistrate court in Abuja after Jisos was found guilty of a single charge.

Jisos was apprehended by officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at Brix Academy in Abuja, where he falsely claimed to be a representative of a non-governmental organisation overseeing the examination.

Upon interrogation, he failed to substantiate his claims and later confessed, stating, “I am not affiliated with any NGO,” and admitted that his presence was solely to assist his daughter in taking the exam.

In light of his conviction, the court granted Jisos the option to either serve a six-month prison sentence or pay a fine of N100,000.
