The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has embarked on a comprehensive advocacy campaign across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, aimed at curbing the sit-at-home order and improving security.
In a statement released on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the campaign commenced with a security and anti-sit-at-home assessment patrol in Awka South Local Government Area. During the visit, CP Itam urged community leaders, local government executives, youth leaders, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to enhance security across the state. He stressed the importance of reporting suspicious activities or individuals to the police for swift intervention.
The Commissioner highlighted the need for sustainable policing practices to ensure better surveillance and timely responses to security threats. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any unusual movements to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency hotline for a prompt response.
CP Itam also provided updates on the murder cases in Nibo and Ifite that occurred two weeks ago, revealing that the command is actively pursuing several suspects identified in connection with the crimes.
As part of his anti-sit-at-home patrol, the Commissioner visited several divisional headquarters in the state, including Ogidi, Obosi, Okpoko, Harbour, and Awada, reinforcing the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety in Anambra.
