Former Lawmaker and Others Leave PDP for APC in Ondo State

Key PDP Members Defect to APC Ahead of Ondo Governorship Election

APC and PDP

Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, several key members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have switched allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Notable among them is Stephen Olemija, a former representative of the Akoko North-East/North West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

Mr. Lekan Bada, the former chairman of Akoko North East and a recent PDP candidate for the House of Representatives by-election, and opposition figure Momoh Mufu are joining him in the defection.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC governorship candidate, welcomed the defectors over the weekend during a campaign event in Akoko North East.

Olemija expressed doubts about the PDP’s ability to secure substantial support in the upcoming election, signalling a challenging path ahead for the opposition party.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the new members and the public of an inclusive administration if given the mandate to continue in office, emphasizing that his government would represent all interests across the state.
