The Nigeria Customs Service has facilitated the country’s first shipment to Kenya under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, with goods from Lucky Fibres, a subsidiary of the Tolaram Group.
The National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, confirmed the shipment, marking a key milestone in intra-African trade.
Olusegun Olutayo, Senior Trade Expert at Nigeria’s AfCFTA Coordination Office, praised the collaboration between Nigeria, Kenya, and the AfCFTA Secretariat in Ghana.
He highlighted the Customs Service’s critical role in ensuring smooth trade facilitation.
Assistant Comptroller Olusola Salako also noted efforts to leverage technology to enhance AfCFTA’s success.
