- The PDP criticized the APC for focusing on power retention, predicting its defeat in the upcoming 2027 elections due to incompetence
- Debo Ologunagba condemned the APC’s response to Governor Makinde, claiming it reflects fear of losing power amid Nigeria’s growing discontent
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a party focused on “grabbing, snatching, and running” with power and predicting its defeat in the 2027 elections.
This response came after APC’s reaction to a recent statement by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who suggested the 2027 election would be a contest between Nigerians and the ruling APC.
Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, denounced APC’s reply to Makinde as “reckless” and “insensitive,” arguing that it reflects the APC’s fear of losing power as Nigerians become increasingly aware of what he described as the ruling party’s “lies, suppressive policies, and incompetence.”
The PDP praised Governor Makinde as a credible and effective leader who prioritizes the people’s needs, both in Oyo State and nationally, as he works alongside other PDP governors to foster democracy and resist what they claim is the APC’s attempt to establish a one-party state.
In the statement, the PDP condemned the APC for what it says are false performance claims, asserting that the ruling party has failed on all fronts.
The opposition pointed out the current economic hardships faced by Nigerians, claiming that APC’s “voodoo economy” has caused the Naira to plummet, basic goods to skyrocket in price, and widespread poverty to increase across the nation.
“As 2027 approaches,” the PDP added, “the APC’s response to criticism is manipulation, data distortion, and personal attacks.” The PDP urged the APC to “accept its failure” and prepare for the reality that Nigerians will remove it from power come February 2027, claiming that the party is headed for “political oblivion.”
