Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State

Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has urged the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to collaborate more closely with state governments in the Niger Delta region to develop legacy projects that positively impact residents’ lives.

Governor Diri made this plea during a courtesy visit by NDDC’s Executive Management, led by Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, at the Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa. He commended NDDC for taking a new approach, emphasizing cooperation as the way forward [1).

Diri stressed the importance of aligning NDDC’s interventions with state governments’ efforts, noting past discrepancies. He advised against duplicating projects, suggesting prior consultation with states before initiating projects in their territories.

The governor acknowledged NDDC’s many uncompleted projects in Bayelsa State but expressed optimism about the commission’s renewed efforts.

Dr. Ogbuku pledged to partner with Niger Delta governors for sustainable development, ensuring representatives work closely with state governments to align projects with local needs.
