The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ondo State has announced a three-day prayer session to seek divine support for a peaceful governorship election scheduled for November 16. Anselm Ologunwa, chairman of the Ondo State CAN, made the announcement during a gathering of Christian leaders held at St. David Anglican Cathedral in Akure on Tuesday.

Ologunwa emphasized the importance of prayer for a fair and nonviolent election and stressed that effective leadership is crucial for a better society.

“We desire a government committed to peace and economic progress, focusing on creating job opportunities,” he said. The prayer sessions will begin on November 10, focusing on peace and divine guidance for Ondo State.

CAN reaffirmed its non-partisan position, with Ologunwa emphasizing that the association’s role is to uphold Christian values above any political affiliation. “Our responsibility is to promote the teachings of Jesus Christ, regardless of political leanings,” he noted.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, also met with Christian leaders, urging them to pray for a peaceful election. He expressed his administration’s alignment with Christian values, underscoring the spiritual obligations of those in leadership.
